van goghVincent Van Gogh- Antonin Artaud - Exhibition

Musée d'Orsay

From the 11th of March 2014 to the 06th of July 2014

62 rue de Lille – 75007 PARIS

A few days before the opening of a Van Gogh exhibition in Paris in 1947, gallery owner Pierre Loeb suggested that Antonin Artaud (1896-1948) write about the painter. Challenging the thesis of alienation, Artaud was determinated to show how Van Gogh's exceptionnal lucidity made lesser minds uncomfortable. Whising to prevent him from the uttering certain "intolerable truths", those who were disturbed by his painting drove him to suicide. Based on the categories and the unusual designations put forward by Artaud in Van Gogh, the Man Suicided by Society, the exhibition will comprise some thirty paintings, a selection of Van Gogh's drawings and letters, together with graphic works by the poet-illustrator.

Till We Drop - Exhibition

At Galerie des Galeries - Galeries Lafayette - 1st floor
From the 29th of January 2014 to the 05th of April 2014
40 boulevard Haussmann 75009 PARIS

Galerie des Galeries opens its doors to talented fashion designer Jean-Paul Lespagnard.

A former prizewinner of the International Festival of Fashion and Photography in Hyères and a future artisitic partner of the European Capital of Culture project in the city of Mons 2015, he has fashioned the TILL WE DROP exhibition in his own image: quirky and socially conscious.

For his first solo exhibition in Paris, Jean-Paul invites visitors to explore his creative process. Drawing from the identically titled 2014 collection, shown in September of 2013 in Paris, this exhibition evokes the exuberance of life at Mexico's giant Mayan Rivieria hotels and expresses the artist's take on this artificial paradise, a world steeped in euphoria, sin and freedom. Dressed as a bee and using a series of installations, Jean-Paul Lespagnard takes us down a guided tour of the rituals and customs of impulse tourism , freed form and materiel contingencies. As prolific designer Jean-Paul Lespagnard exhibits his work at Galeries Lafayette, several visuals from his TILL WE DROP projet will be displayed in store windows on the rue de la Chaussée d'Antin as well as the store's first upper floor.

Adams 06Robert Adams - The place we live at the Jeu de Paume

From the 11th of February 2014 to the 18th of May 2014

1 Place de la Concorde -75008 PARIS

Robert Adams was born in Orange (New Jersey) in 1937 and grew up first in Wisconsin, then Colorado, where he lived for over three decades before moving to Oregon. Since the mid 1960s, Adams has been considered one of the most important and influential chroniclers of the American West. The exhibition "Robert Adams: The Place We Live" reflects Adams' longstanding interest in tragic relationship between man and nature and his quest to find redeeming light and beauty in a deteriorating landscape. His photographs are distinguished not only by their economy and lucidity, but also by their mixture of grief and hope. With more than two hundred and fifty pictures chosen from twenty-one distincts series, this retrospective presents for the very first time the diverse aspects of his epic body of work. Edited and sequenced with input from the photographer himself, the exhibition offers not only an intimate and coherent narrative of the development of the Western United States in the late 20th and early 21st century, but also a challenging view of the complexity contradictions of our contemporary, global society.
